  1. Hi, As someone already pointed out, offer into Croatia was of second hand Gripen C/Ds. SAAB's offer is strong mostly because of Global eye. That would indeed be a force multiplier and real asset for FAF (maybe from historical reasons FAF still does air combat and control from underground bunkers all over Finland as dispersed means to avoid decapitation, like Warsaw pact did, but much more so). As Finland has now the "Lipstick government" led by socialists with the greens and "soft line communists" in tow, all of whom tend always to view Sweden very favorably might mean that politically Sweden also has very good bid. Also SAAB has been major provider for armaments for FDF for 50 years so the goodwill is definitely there. SAAB has also started R&D offices in Finland and in fact SAABs new stand in jammer missile was developed in Finland, so there are a lot of little things going in their favor. If I worked for SAAB I would take Swiss refuse to let Gripen E to enter the competition as "too immature" as more alarming sign, but play the Canada card where Gripen is against F/A-18 and F-35 as a proof of maturity and concept.
  2. Hi, Nothing is known from Dassault Rafale bid. I took from the Command modern operations heaviest A2A load, which I believe Armee Del Air uses (I think in the end the way Finnish Air Force would use Rafale would be extremely close to way ADA uses it) and ran the simulation. I do venture to guess that the Dassault bid will be of total 64 fighters, as Finns want to "fully replace F/A-18 C capabilities" I think FAF is looking for Meteoras the main A2A missile as the US congress permit to sales didn'ät include any long range A2A missiles (just 150 sidewinders, and a lot of other ordnance) if you are interested Boeing offered 72 F/A-18 E/F/Gs and Lockheed martin 64 F-35 As. Guessing game would go like this: a) Meteor is already integrated to some versions of F-35, so FAF wants Meteor or b) Finland waits for JATM/peregrine missile and makes due with AMRAAM C-7 untill that time (unlikely as AMRAAM D is not going to be replaced by said missiles) c) Finland goes with AMRAAM D in the end. (Most likely if Boeing gets the nod) Swedes have announced 52 Gripen Es 12 Fs and two Global Eye AWACS platforms. again with Meteor
  3. To whom It Might concern, You guys might be interested that Rafale had a great run in defensive counter air scenario I ran on Command Modern Operations. Everything in is English though, but I dont think that it will pose a problem for you. https://epamuodikkaitaajatuksia.com/2021/02/09/rafales-very-good-showing/
