L’exercice militaire américano-marocain reporté par Rabat sur fond de tension à l’ONU avec Washington au sujet du Sahara occidental, va finalement avoir lieu en partie, alors qu’un compromis a été trouvé aux Nations unies, a indiqué l’ambassade américaine au Maroc. «Quelques exercices vont reprendre, en matière d’entraînement aérien ou encore de ravitaillement, sachant que quelques unes des troupes sont encore sur le terrain», a précisé à l’AFP le porte-parole de l’ambassade des Etats-Unis, Rodney Ford.

Des militaires américains enseignent à des soldats marocains le bon fonctionnement de drones légers de combat de type Raven RQ-11B, ou "Raven-B".

Normalement, cet exercice de familiarisation des militaires marocains avec le fonctionnement des drones légers de type Raven RQ-11B devrait se conclure par la signature, dans les prochains mois, d'un contrat d’achat de ces appareils.

Romarm signs EUR 8.5 million defense contract with Morocco

Weapons manufacturer Romarm signed an EUR 8.5 million expertise contract with the National Defense Administration of the Kingdom of Morocco in late September, according to Ministry of Economy officials. The contract will run until next spring, providing the charging of full production capacity of Uzina Mecanica Cugir. The agreement also opens up opportunities to provide other products: complete weapons systems and ammunition. With a holding structure, Romarm is the biggest operator in the defense industry with state capital and is under the direct coordination and administration of the Ministry of Economy, in terms of research, development, production and marketing of military products and equipment.

Chief Minister visits regiment in military exercise in Morocco

The Chief Minister, accompanied by Mrs Picardo, leave the Rock for Morocco today. The Chief Minister will visit the Royal Gibraltar Regiment which is currently on Exercise Jebel Sahara on a training area close to the city of Marrakech.

Whilst in Morocco, the Chief Minister will hold his first meeting with Mr Clive Alderton who has been Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Morocco since December 2012.

Mr Picardo will also use the visit to meet several businessmen who are potential investors in Gibraltar.

Mr and Mrs Picardo will return to Gibraltar on Friday 8 November.

The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia, will act as Chief Minister during Mr Picardo’s visit to Morocco.
