MAST Asia: Mitsui Unveils proposal for the RMN future MRSS tender

At MAST Asia 2019, the defense exhibition and conference currently held near Tokyo, Japan, local shipbuilder Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (Mitsui E&S) unveiled its MRSS design that could compete for a Royal Malaysian Navy requirement.

The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) « 15 to 5 » transformation program involves the acquisition of three Multirole Support Ship (MRSS) ships, with a planned delivery between 2021-2025 for the first two vessels and around 2035 for the third one.

MAST Asia: Thales Pitching Artemis IRST for JMSDF 30FFM Baseline 2

At MAST Asia 2019, the defense exhibition and conference currently held near Tokyo, Japan, Thales is showcasing the Artemis infra-red search and track (IRST) system.

A Thales Japan representative told Naval News that the company is currently proposing the Artemis IRST to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) future 30FFM Baseline 2 frigate.

MAST Asia: iXblue Unveils SEADRiX USV for Persistent ASW Missions

At MAST Asia 2019, the defense exhibition and conference currently held near Tokyo, Japan, French company iXblue unveiled its SEADRiX USV for persistent anti-submarine warfare missions.

SEADRiX consists in the pairing of iXblue’s sea proven DRiX USV with British company SEA’s KraitArray user-configurable thin line array. The combination of both system creates an “unmanned sound barrier” system (both passive & active), similar to the famous SOSUS network, with the notable difference that the sensors are now mobile.
