Winter 2005

Armoured Patrol Vehicles:

On the 9th of December the Danish Army Material Command (DAMC) signed a contract regarding the purchase of 85 Mowag Eagle IV armoured patrol vehicles plus a small number for training and logistic reserve, including initial logistic support and services.

The contract is worth 247 million DKr (approx. US $ 38 mill.).

The contract is part of a larger project with a total value of 420 million DKr (approx. US $ 65 mill.). The remainder of the projects deals with weapon systems, protection equipment, and a command-, control-, communications- and information-system to be mounted on the vehicles.

Production will take place at MOWAG's facility in Kreuzlingen and deliveries will commence in August 2006. Danish companies will be involved in the supply of various components and assemblies.

The vehicles will supersede the ageing Mowag Eagle and some of the un-armoured Mercedes Geländewagen in the role as patrol- and scout-vehicles.

(Danish Army Material Command Press Release, 06 DEC 2005 & Mowag GmbH Press release, 09 DEC 2005)

Pour le Mowag Eagle IV des Danois ça nous donne 447 059$ par véhicule nu et 764 706$  équipé.

In November 2005 the Canadian government contracted General Dynamics Land Systems Canada (GDLS-C) to supply 50 RG-31 Mine Protected Vehicles with an option for 25 additional vehicles under a CAD $60.3 million (US $51.3 million) order (more info on Defense Industry Daily). An option for the procurement of 25 additional vehicles was exercised May 31st, 2006, at a cost of Follow on order (CAD $31 million, US$ 28 million). The Canadian Armored Patrol Vehicle (APV) also known as Nyala incorporates a Kongsberg Protector M151 Remote Weapon Station, and is equipped with a day and night sighting system, which allows the operator to fire the weapon while remaining protected within the vehicle. It also has an enhanced IED protection. The vehicles will be manufactured by BAE Land Systems OMC of South Africa, while GDLS-C will provide ongoing support.

Pour le Canada le RG-31 revient à 1 026 000 US $ pour la première tranche et 1 120 000 US $ pour la deuxième.

pour oublier personne.

Panther CLV

The Panther Command and Liaison Vehicle or Panther CLV is the British Army variant of Iveco LMV. The Panther CLV came from the "Future Command and Liaison Vehicle" (FCLV) project. Design modifications were made by BAE Systems is to be assembled at BAE Systems Land Systems' factory in Newcastle upon Tyne. The Panther seats 4, while the VTLM Lince seats 5. Over 400 Panthers are now being assembled at BAE Systems factory in Newcastle upon Tyne under a £160 million contract. It is intended that the Panther will replace vehicles including Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) (CVRT), Fighting Vehicle FV 432, Saxon and Land Rover Truck Utility Medium (TUM). [3]

Au tour du Buschmaster, la page de wiki donne un prix approximatif de 500 000 US$.

On June 23/06, the Defensie Materieelorganisatie (defence procurement agency, DMO) started an acquisition project that has resulted in the selection of ADI’s Bushmaster. This was an urgent requirement, and was completed in about one month – a timeline that offers ample testament to the contract’s urgency.

Thales subsidiary ADI will supply 25 V-hulled Bushmaster armored patrol vehicles for EUR $24.9 million ($31.7 million at current conversion), 23 of which will be available by August 28 for transport to Afghanistan. The other 2 will be used back in Holland for training. Each vehicle can carry up to 8 soldiers + 2 crew at speeds of up to 90 km/h. Of these 25 vehicles, 12 will replace the pintle-mounted machine gun up top with “overhead weapons systems” that use advanced optics and thermal imaging, and can be controlled from inside the vehicle.

June 13/08: The Dutch MvD announces that The Netherlands will buy another 13 Bushmasters, spares, and service in a EUR 14.5 million (about $22.3 million) contract modification. This brings the Dutch order total to 48, with 6 vehicles destroyed thus far in land mine attacks that caused no casualties. Dutch MvD | Ares | Australia’s DoD, who adds on Aug 8 that Britain has also bought 24 vehicles.

Nov 20/07: The Dutch MvD places a EUR 8.5 million (about $12 million) order for another 10 Bushmasters as combat replacements, after 2 vehicles are destroyed and 2 others heavily damaged by IED land mine attacks in Afghanistan. It’s not unusual for blast-resistant vehicles to be destroyed by land mines and still protect their crew, however, an outcome that is considered a success. No details regarding that aspect of those incidents are released, but the MvD usually announces casualties and includes vehicle types; DID has searched, but seen no reports involving the Bushmaster. MvD release [in Dutch] | Accompanying brief: “Aanvullende behoefte Bushmaster-patrouillevoertuigen.”
