AgustaWestland Unveils The Grand New

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is proud to unveil the Grand New, an evolution of the highly successful Grand helicopter. The Grand New features the very latest developments in avionics while retaining the outstanding Grand’s characteristics, its superior performance, levels of cabin space and payload only provided by larger and more expensive helicopters, low operating costs, high safety and environment friendliness standards. As the first light twin helicopter on the market fully compliant with the latest advanced global navigation satellite system-based requirements for all weather operations, the Grand New offers the operators unprecedented opportunities and exploitation of rotorcraft capabilities setting a new standard on the helicopter market in a multitude of applications.

The Grand New has already received the EASA certification while FAA certification is expected to be achieved in mid 2010. Equipped with EVS (enhanced vision systems) and a Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS) for night operations, the Grand New also meets the latest NTSB/FAA recommendations for EMS operations to consider the use of an FAA-approved night vision goggle or enhanced vision system into flight programmes, when conditions and missions dictate. The Grand New will be the first type certified Light Twin (CS/JAR/FAR 27) with a new EFIS featuring Synthetic Vision. This approach enables the type to operate on helicopter-dedicated routes and it is SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) capable. The Grand New features a state-of-the-art avionics package and a new glass cockpit. The new full digital avionic system for single pilot IFR, dual control configuration operation incorporates the Chelton’s Flight-Logic Synthetic Vision EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System) with FMS (Flight Management System), HTAWS (Helicopter Terrain Awareness Warning System), HITS (Highway In The Sky) and flight recording embedded functions to deliver ultimate situational awareness and groundbreaking automated flight management capabilities, reducing pilot workload and to the benefit of operational effectiveness. The Grand New is fitted with a four-axis dual duplex digital autopilot coupled with a Flight Director and with a new Radio Management System (RMS) permitting the centralized management of radio communication and navigation systems of the helicopter while the Integrated Display System (IDS) provides aircraft/engine data monitoring, crew alert and maintenance data pages.

Like the previous version, the Grand New offers exceptional performance and an ample unobstructed cabin suitable for a number of versatile configurations and roles, offering room for up to six passengers or up to two stretchers plus medical attendants. Its distinctive characteristics make the Grand New the ideal platform in its category for corporate/VIP transport, offshore transport, passenger transport, EMS, SAR, harbour pilot shuttle (HPS), coastal patrol and government purposes. Thanks to these unparalleled capabilities no other light twin helicopter can claim, the Grand New proves unique in its class and ensures a quantum leap forward for both operational effectiveness and safety. Orders for around 290 Grand and Grand New helicopters, comprising the Da Vinci as a special version based on the Grand New technology specifically developed to meet the REGA requirement, have been placed by almost 150 customers in over 30 countries worldwide, in order to perform several tasks.

La société publique russe Russian Helicopters a signé un accord de coentreprise avec la filiale AgustaWestland de l'italien Finmeccanica à l'occasion du Salon de Bourget, lit-on dans un communiqué conjoint des deux sociétés diffusé mercredi.

"Russian Helicopters et AgustaWestland ont signé un accord final pour mettre en place la coentreprise HeliVert à participation égale", indique le document.

La coentreprise produira 15 hélicoptères AgustaWestland 139 par an dans l'usine qui sera construite dans le village de Tomilino (région de Moscou). L'ouverture de l'usine est prévue pour l'été 2011, alors que la production des hélicoptères débutera au quatrième trimestre de l'année en cours.

L'AgustaWestland 139 est un hélicoptère moyen polyvalent de masse maximale de 6.400 kilos capable de transporter jusqu'à 15 passagers à son bord. Le coût unitaire de l'appareil s'élève à 7 millions de dollars.

L'assemblage d'hélicoptères AW139 (Agusta Westland) débutera en novembre 2012 dans la région de Moscou, a annoncé lundi à Sotchi (littoral russe de la mer Noire) le président russe Vladimir Poutine à l'issue d'une rencontre avec le premier ministre italien Mario Monti.

"Une usine d'assemblage d'hélicoptères italiens Agusta a été construite dans la région de Moscou. Les premiers hélicoptères seront produits en novembre prochain", a indiqué M.Poutine.

La société "Hélicoptères de Russie", une filiale du groupe Oboronprom faisant partie du holding de hautes technologies Rostekhnologii, et AgustaWestland (groupe Finmeccanica) ont annoncé avoir signé un accord final sur la fondation de leur coentreprise HeliVert chargée d'assembler des AW139 en Russie en juin 2011.

D'une masse au décollage de 6,4 tonnes, l'hélicoptère bimoteur civil AW139 est capable de transporter jusqu'à 15 personnes et peut être utilisé comme un moyen de transport VIP, dans les travaux sur le plateau continental, les situations d'urgence, les opérations de sauvetage et anti-incendie.

Le Premier ministre russe Dimitri Medvedev a mis en ligne il y a quelques jours des photos de son nouvel hélicoptère bi-turbine italien Agusta Westland gris métallisé, aux armes de la Russie et à l’intérieur de cuir beige, et de son premier vol au-dessus de la capitale.
