Rapport du NOA ajourd'hui... Et appréciez le poème surréaliste de JL (Ewing?) à ce propos sur starstreak, avant même ledit rapport NAO Major Projects Report tomorrow by Jon Lake » 09 Jan 2013 22:32 The NAO will publish its MOD - Major projects report 2012 tomorrow - on 10 January 2013. I have not yet seen it, and so I am not breaking any ‘curfew’ or embargo. I’m told to expect criticism of Typhoon on two fronts, however – both with regard to delays to and cost increases in the delivery of future capability – specifically Meteor and Paveway IV. But anyone leaping on the report as evidence of current problems should be a bit cautious. The report is a year out of date, and pre-dates the re-baselining of PWIV a year ago (since when there has been no slippage). Moreover, I do not expect it to be sophisticated enough that the price for delay has been 40% greater content in P1E, and the incorporation of improvements developed in the Tranche 1 ‘Drops’ programme. Nor do I expect it to take account of the stunningly successful end-to-end Paveway IV drop undertaken by BAE on 10 December. As to Meteor, to expect maturity of a missile ‘chucked over the wall’ at the MoD after so brief a series of manufacturer’s firings would be optimistic to the point of naivety. And when there is still no integration contract for Meteor on Typhoon, any criticism should be leveled firmly at the MoD, rather than at industry or the aircraft, per se. Not that any of that will distract the usual suspects from the usual hysterical anti-Typhoon, anti-“British Waste of Space” hysteria and nonsense. Especially those towering figures of Page and Ward..... Jon Lake Part of the furniture Posts: 1092 Joined: 12 May 2004 23:36
