SOUTH CHINA SEA (Nov. 13, 2014) A rigid-hull inflatable boat attached to the Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided-missile frigate USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG 60) supports a visit, board, search and seizure training exercise during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Brunei 2014. In its 20th year, CARAT is an annual, bilateral exercise series with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and the armed forces of nine partner nations including Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Timor-Leste. ARABIAN GULF (Nov. 12, 2014) An F/A-18C Hornet from the Stingers of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 113 launches from the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) as the ship conducts flight operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility supporting Operation Inherent Resolve. The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the area supporting maritime security operations, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, and theater security cooperation efforts in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
