Defensenews.com Typhoon Slowly Assumes Combat Roles in Italy By TOM KINGTON, GROSSETO AIR BASE, Italy It was only after landing his Eurofighter Typhoon on May 12 that Italian pilot Ivan Laudizi realized he had just flown the first real mission involving the flagship European fighter. Laudizi’s jet was already in the air with a second Typhoon after a training scramble from Groseto Air Base when they were ordered to intercept a Tunisian A320 over Sicily. After climbing to 40,000 feet and reaching 0.9 Mach, the two aircraft arrived in 30 minutes, descending to 30,000 feet to make the intercept. “It was pretty much like many other interceptions I have made, although this one was much easier,” he said, adding that this was no surprise since his last intercept was aboard an F-104. By trading an aging Starfighter for the Typhoon, Laudizi personifies the dramatic break with the past that Italy has made in buying the new fighter. Desolè Neuron, ca va etre trop beau. Je ne croie pas ca. SI l'Italie (ou autre pais EU) vien attaquè, il y aura seulement la Nato a aider (....). Si il y aurant problems avec la Lybie ou l'Algerie, la Grece avec la Turquie ou si la Espagne a problem avec le Marocco, j'ai gros doubts que la France donne l'apport militaire et surtout sous comendement de la Grece, l'Espagne ou l'Italie pour aller militairement contre Algerie, Marocco ou Libie. Soyent serieux, ce sont problems tres delicat. AUjourd'hui le seul organism comune europeènne/americaine est la Nato. SI nous voulons faire une defense comune il faut faire avant une organism de decision comune (parlament) EU et apres acheter les matos. Acheter la pistole sans connaitre qui le doit tenir est un risque trop grand pour tous. Si la France a les moyenne financiere (je n'en doute car est un effort trop gros) pour acheter gros PA, bien (pas de problems) alors ca est seulement pour la politique exterieur francaise. N'a rien a faire avec la EU ou les autre partner, except le RU pour une question budgetaire (economique=argent). La demagogie du type 'il faut que la France fait un effort au nom de la defense EU' est seulement un paliatif pour justifier l'effort financiere face a les problems intern du pais.
