First order of ACMAT Bastion Patsas Special Forces protected vehicle for Tchad Presidential Guard.

Chad has purchased 22 Bastions Patsas 4x4 Special Forces protected vehicle designed and manufactured by the French Company ACMAT, now a subdivision of Renault Trucks Defense. The vehicle will be used by the country's presidential guard.

The delivery of the first French Bastion Patsas vehicles is expected to be made in early 2013. The order is the first for the Bastion Patsas Special Forces protected vehicle.

Chad is the first customer for this vehicle, and shows once again the expertise of the French Company ACMAT in development and design of all-terrain vehicle for Africa and the Middle East.

C'est une bonne chose pour ACMAT et son véhicule qui a l'air bien né, bien équilibré je trouve entre le blindage, la mobilité et le feu.

On sait quel armement est prévu? du 20mm comme les ACMAT vendu au Maroc?

Acmat Defense has produced first ambulance version of its ALTV 4x4 light vehicle for a customer.

ACMAT has produced the first 14 of the ambulance version of the ALTV for a customer. The first four of these were delivered at the beginning of January. On the basis of this light 4x4 (permitted GVW: 3.5 tonnes), over 1,000 of which have been sold to armed forces, ACMAT has designed a vehicle for first aid or a surgical team.

LE VLRA Ca troue le cul si je peux me permettre! C'est le nec plus ultra au niveau pratique de ce que l'on ai dans l'armée française... SI je devais en choisir un, c'est lui!

Le VLRA c'est vraiment le top. Avec la réduction des moyens de l'armée de terre, on va surement en trouver bientôt sur le marché de l'occasion.

Le groupe RTD vient de fêter le 500 ième livrés de la nouvelle version ACMAT VLRA 2 .(6 ans après son lancement)

France markets special forces vehicle in Gulf

ACMAT, part of the expanded Renault Trucks Defense Group (Stand CP-300), has brought its latest Bastion PATSAS HM (4x4) special forces (SF) vehicle to IDEX 2015. The Bastion has already seen operational service with Chad.

Based on the proven ACMAT chassis, the Bastion PATSAS HM is fitted with an armoured body that provides protection from small arms fire, shell splinters and some types of mine and improvised explosive devices. Ballistic protection is to STANAG 4569 Level 3. The upper part of the vehicle is open to provide enhanced situational awareness for the crew and roll-over protection is standard.

As with any type of SF vehicle, the weapon fit depends on the end user’s specific requirements. The vehicle shown at IDEX is fitted with a ring-mounted .50 M2 HB machine gun that provides 360° coverage.

The driver and commander are seated to the immediate rear of the engine compartment and are provided with bullet/splinter-proof windows that can fold forward onto the bonnet when not required. The commander would normally operate a 7.62mm machine gun on a swivel mount, with two more mounted one on each side at the rear.

Typical gross vehicle weight of the vehicle is about 13 tonnes. In addition to the crew of commander and driver, it would normally carry another three men to operate the weapons.

The ‘HM’ in the designation denotes high mobility, for which the Bastion PATSAS HM is fitted with independent suspension rather than conventional axles. It is normally powered by a 180hp or 215hp diesel, which can be coupled to a manual or an automatic transmission.

For use in long-range reconnaissance and penetration raids, large fuel tanks are fitted to give a range of up to 1,200km.

In addition to the SF vehicle, ACMAT has also sold significant quantities of the fully enclosed armoured personnel carrier version known as the Bastion HM. This has been sold to at least four countries in the region.

Deux sujets sont surveillés à la loupe à Paris. Le premier est la question des implantations industrielles. Même si le creux de charge est passé, la tentation pourrait exister de fermer au moins un site industriel pour faire des économies, certains évoquant l’usine ACMAT de Saint-Nazaire. L’annonce de plus de 500 suppressions de postes chez Renault Trucks pouvant être un indicateur de mauvais augure.

Le second sujet est celui des exportations. «RTD est une image inversée de Nexter. Nexter ne vend pas assez à l’exportation mais est bien géré. RTD vend beaucoup mais a été mal géré. Si les Suédois veulent mettre leur nez dans les exportations, ça ira mal», confie une source officielle. En effet, il n’a pas échappé aux Français que la question des exportations de RTD avait, par le passé, été instrumentalisée dans le cadre des luttes internes au top-management suédois, parfois avec le relais de fonds de pension “éthiques”.

The USD25 million contract was announced on 25 September when the US Department of Defense said that Mack Defense will supply 62 APCs to Cameroon, Ethiopia, Somalia, Tunisia, and Uganda on behalf of AFRICOM, but did not identify the vehicles or say how many each country will receive.
